SUSE Enterprise Server Advanced Operations

This two day course – SES301v6 SUSE Enterprise Server Advanced Operations – teaches students advanced administration for SUSE Enterprise Storage. The course assumes that students have a basic understanding of Ceph storage, the RADOS cluster and typical gateways.

This course is based on SUSE Enterprise Storage 6 technologies.

Course content summary

In this course, attendees will learn the following:

• Backup the essential SES Cluster system files and directories.
• Perform cluster updates and maintenance using DeepSea.
• Expand capacity by adding servers and storage devices, using DeepSea.
• Replace cluster servers, such as a storage node, monitor node, and others.
• Implement off-cluster monitoring and alerts, such as SNMP.
• Understand various settings and switches to optimize and tune performance.
• Implement RBD mirroring.

Audience for this course

• The target audience are administrators who are new to SUSE Enterprise Storage and who wish to understand the operation, installation and administration of a SUSE Enterprise Storage cluster.

Prerequisites for this course

• Attendees should have a working knowledge of SUSE Enterprise Storage (or other Ceph cluster) to the level required by SUSE Certified Administrator in Enterprise Storage.
• Attendees should have good SUSE Linux Enterprise Server skills, equivalent to a SUSE Certified Engineer SCE – Enterprise Linux certification.
