Single node Red Hat OpenShift for edge architectures available
The new version of Red Hat OpenShift 4.9 delivers the possibility to deploy a full OpenShift installation in a single node.
This fully supported topology joins the three node cluster and remote worker topologies (until recently the smallest supported cluster size – including control and worker nodes). This offers new opportunities in deploying to edge environments.
Single node OpenShift offers both control and worker node capabilities in a single server and provides users with a consistent experience across the sites where OpenShift is deployed, regardless of the size of the deployment.
“Think cell towers, not data centers” – as Moran Goldboim, Senior Principal Product Manager, and Eran Cohen, Senior Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat emphasize in this introductory overview article of the new single node option.
